About the Owner

Get to Know Me
Hi! I'm Bonnie Perry M.S., CCC-SLP, CMT®, owner of Perry Myofunctional Therapy PLLC. I grew up in Tyler, Texas, and decided to pursue a career in Speech Language Pathology my Junior year of High School. I received my Bachelors of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Abilene Christian University, being awarded the Valedictorian Award upon completion of this degree. Following an internship through the Disney College Program, I continued with Abilene Christian University at their Dallas campus in completion of my Masters degree in Speech Language Pathology. I have experience in a variety of environments. From acute care, adult rehab facilities, ABA settings, pediatric outpatient, home health, and schools. Oh - and I also have a fun little minor in Gerontology! I have now devoted my career to Orofacial Myofunctional Disorders. Check out the certifications, trainings, and collaborative study groups that have transformed my knowledge in the world of airway, on this page.
What Made Me Fall for Myo
I first had speech therapy at age 5 for my “s” sounds— I quickly overcame this, and life went on. That is, until college, when my smile started to drastically change. My bite opened up in just two years. I couldn’t eat tacos, sandwiches, or pizza easily (tragic!), and as a soon-to-be speech therapist, I was frustrated that my own speech wasn’t as crisp as I wanted.
During graduate school, I discovered Myofunctional Therapy—and suddenly, everything clicked. My open bite was caused by my tongue constantly pushing against my teeth. I was a habitually resting with an open mouth, and a tongue thrust on every swallow. I needed to retrain my tongue.
I became a myo patient myself. Within months, I could see resolution to the root cause, restored my oral function, and completely transformed my life.
At this point, I knew I wanted to specialize my Speech Pathology career to focus on Orofacial Myofunctional Disorders. I am passionate about helping others experience the same life-changing results and aim to make that more accessible for all.
From personal experience: do the therapy. Make the changes. It’s worth it.
